PREGNANT WOMEN: AVOID REPETITIVE STRESS

A new survey focuses on stress during pregnancy. Repeated stress should be avoided as a priority ... but nothing is done!

The stress of pregnancy and infant development

We know that stress decreases the chances of getting pregnant, and it increases the risk of preterm birth and other pregnancy complications. A new study has just shown that it also has an impact on the development of the child after birth. An Australian team has indeed recruited nearly 3000 pregnant women studied and the stress they experienced, then followed the children until the age of 14. Result: repeated exposure to stress increases the risk that children develop a behavioral or mental health.

What kind of stress is dangerous during pregnancy?

All stress, whether or not controllable, ranging from job loss to marital problems, to problems of money or loss of a loved one, are concerned - there are not a kind that is more dangerous than others. The period in which stress occurs does not affect either - early or late pregnancy, the consequences on child development will be the same. The only thing that actually plays, it is the number of stressful events. It is based on three events that we will observe an impact on children.

Stress during pregnancy: and yet nothing is

The researchers however stress the fact that stress during pregnancy does not determine the future mental health of a child, it only increases the risk. No need, therefore, feel guilty or even more stress mothers facing difficult events during pregnancy! Instead, the entire society must make every effort so that they are surrounded after the birth of their child. Indeed, the brain of the child, whatever the conditions of pregnancy, has an extraordinary ability to grow if given the means.
