The development of your toddler of 13 months

He stands and walks!

At 13 months, about one in four children walk without support, even if his approach is still hesitant. If your toddler is still using furniture or other objects to move, it simply means that it will take a little longer to walk alone. Some children do not walk until 17 or 18 months or later. But whether all fours, standing with support or unsteadily, the important thing is that your toddler moves alone. He no longer needs to wait to be lifted, that the door or be pushed, the world is now within reach.

It explores and discovers

Now it works, your child can satisfy his curiosity. For example, they can examine your pet closely and quickly retreat if it frightens him. A feat!

It captures and manipulates all objects

Not only will your toddler better control the use of his legs, but he also knows better use of his hands. Most children of 13 months are able to grasp a cube and throw it in a box. Some even know already scribbling on sheets. Your toddler may have grabbed a spoon. But do not expect that he knows how to use it properly yet.

He grew more slowly and eat less

Do not be surprised if your baby was still hungry start eating less. Between birth and their first birthday, toddlers typically triple their weight and are 25 cm, what an achievement! But between their first and second birthday, their growth rate slows dramatically and they begin to lose their baby fat, this little chubby side. Expect that your toddler eats more or less depending on the day and that his tastes are changing.

He understands and communicates

Your toddler begins or knows how to say "Dad," "mama," and a few other recognizable words. Although his vocabulary is still very limited, it is now coming to be understood. When he wants down, he indicates with his hand. For you do notice him, he pulls on your clothes. It also includes many simple words that you use everyday.

He lives mainly in this

When he plays, your toddler tries to experiment. For example: "What happens if I spill my plastic cup? "Or" what happens if I plunged my fingers in the sauce? ". He likes to observe the result of his actions. As his memory is not yet very developed, it does not bother to repeat endlessly the same experiences.
