Autism is difficult to diagnose

Sometimes children with autism have no symptoms that can detect on the spot at the doctor's office.

Some autistic children can have a normal motor development or even ahead, while others lag behind.

Autism can be confused with deafness, emotional disorders or speech, mental retardation or a simple delay in development.

Some autistic children have a physically more attractive, without any physical abnormality. For others, it can detect conditions associated: hyperactivity and cerebral palsy, for example. However, the intervention must be focused on autism and its associated symptoms to help the child to the fullest.

The specific symptoms that occur can vary greatly from one to another autistic child. In the same child, the symptoms may also change over time.

Waiting lists are often long in diagnostic centers: an early referral to these centers is strongly recommended.
